Shipping, pickup and delivery policy
This policy carries the detail behind section 10 of the buyer terms at /terms/buyer. It forms part of those terms.
1. Choosing pickup or shipping
1.1 After you win, you choose pickup or shipping for your order. You can switch between pickup and shipping until your items are released or shipped, by emailing support@bidbossinc.ca. Pickup to shipping is free at any time before the pickup deadline. Shipping to pickup is available until your order is dispatched: it is free before packing of the order has begun, and once packing has begun it carries the shipping-cancellation fee set in the buyer terms, the greater of $20 or 15 percent of the shipping charge, reflecting the packing labour and materials then incurred. It is never charged where the switch results from our error.
2. Pickup
2.1 Pickup is by appointment only, booked after the auction, at Unit 4, 12 Vulcan Street, Etobicoke, ON M9W 1L2 (Thursday and Friday 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Saturday 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM). Government-issued photo ID and a signature are required before release. A person collecting for you must be authorized by you in writing in advance.
2.2 Book your slot. Bring your order confirmation and government photo ID. We confirm identity, payment and the order, then stage and release it. There is no self-check-in. If no slot is available before the deadline, switch to shipping at no charge or request an arrangement; slot unavailability is never treated as abandonment.
2.3 No partial pickup. An order is collected in full; anything left behind enters the ladder in section 5.
2.4 Someone else may collect for you. Authorize them in writing before the appointment, naming the person; the authorized person completes their own identity verification, presents government photo ID at pickup, and the release is recorded against your authorization. Business buyers may set a standing driver the same way and revoke it in writing at any time.
2.5 Arrive prepared to load: bring the vehicle, assistance and materials your Lots require. Inspect your Lots before you leave, since collection starts your claim window under the returns policy.
3. Shipping
3.1 We ship across Canada and to the continental United States, on Lots that are practical to ship. We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii, and we do not ship to PO boxes: a PO box cannot be a shipping address for any order. After the auction, request shipping and you will receive a quote. Nothing dispatches until you approve it, and shipping is paid before release.
3.2 We combine multiple Lots into fewer parcels where practical. Consolidation is best effort and not guaranteed.
3.3 Every shipment requires a signature on delivery. You or someone you authorize must be available to sign.
3.4 Risk of loss and transit damage. Risk of loss passes to you when your order is released to you at the counter or handed to the carrier, whichever occurs first. Damage or loss in transit is pursued through the carrier's claims process; Bid Boss helps you file the claim and supports it. Report it promptly and retain the packaging and its remains.
3.5 Refusing a shipment, or failing to accept it, is not a return, and an undeliverable or refused parcel that comes back to us re-enters your order as uncollected goods under section 5. Return carriage and any re-delivery are at your cost.
3.6 Cross-border buyers are responsible for all duties, taxes, brokerage and import compliance in the destination country. Lots shipped to US addresses are exported; no GST/HST is charged. US duties or taxes may apply on import. Bid Boss keeps proof of export for every shipment to a US address. We do not ship to embargoed destinations, and parcels flagged by a carrier's denied-party screening are refused.
4. Addresses
4.1 We validate shipping addresses, and an order ships only to the address on the invoice. A PO box, or an address in Alaska or Hawaii, is not a valid shipping address and cannot be selected. Address changes after packing may re-rate the charge, and the revised charge is shown before payment.
4.2 Where your account address and the shipping address you request differ, we may hold dispatch for a one-time identity verification through our verification provider, using clear government photo ID, and we release the shipment on verification. We keep only the result of the check, never your documents.
5. Abandonment
5.1 All items must be picked up, or shipping requested, by Saturday at 3:00 PM following the auction. If an item is not collected and no shipping has been requested by then, we will notify you by email and text message, and you will have seven (7) more days to collect it or request shipping. A storage fee of $5.00 per lot per day applies from the Saturday deadline, and you authorize us to charge it to your card on file. An item still not collected or requested seven (7) days after that notice is deemed abandoned, and you authorize us to resell it on your behalf. Your original purchase is not cancelled or refunded. From the resale proceeds we deduct the storage fees, an abandonment fee equal to the greater of $25.00 or twenty-five percent (25%) of your original lot price, and the costs of resale; any remaining balance is held for you and paid on written request. Two abandoned purchases result in permanent suspension of bidding privileges. The same applies where a shipping charge is left unapproved or unpaid past the deadline.
5.2 If you need more time or a change, rebook, switch your delivery method, or request an arrangement, before the deadline. Arrangements are at our discretion and must be made before the deadline.
5.3 Where an order reaches the deadline in 5.1 after an unpaid invoice or a cancellation you initiated, the restocking fee in the buyer terms also applies.
