Prohibited Items
Version 1.2 · registry edition 2 · in effect from 2026-10-03
Prohibited and restricted items policy
This policy identifies goods that are never sold, goods that are sold only under stated conditions, and the treatment of listed goods received from a consignor or supplier.
1. Never sold
1.1 Recalled products. Products under a Health Canada recall are never listed, sold, or given away, in any condition, new or used. We screen against recall data, and a recall discovered after listing withdraws the Lot, and after sale triggers a refund and our own recall-response steps.
1.2 Prohibited products. Products banned under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, such as baby walkers, lawn darts and other Schedule 2 items, are never sold.
1.3 Counterfeit or stolen goods. Suspected counterfeits are quarantined, never listed, and title-problem goods are handled under our title-claim procedure with the authorities where needed.
1.4 Contaminated or unsafe health and beauty. The governing test is whether use can introduce contamination into the product. One-way dispensers, a pump, tube, spray or roll-on, can be sold with the fill level disclosed. Anything touched directly in use, a jar, tub, palette, mascara wand or lipstick, is discarded once opened, never listed. Cosmetics stored or handled in a way that could contaminate them are discarded.
1.5 Expired goods without disclosure. Expiry dates are captured and displayed for every dated category. An expired item is sold only where lawful for its category and only with the expiry disclosed; otherwise it is discarded.
1.6 Weapons and restricted goods. Firearms, prohibited weapons and prohibited devices under Canadian law are never sold. Other legally restricted items are sold only where we can lawfully sell them and the buyer can lawfully buy them.
1.7 Used child-safety categories that cannot meet current standards. Used cribs, playpens, car seats and corded window coverings in non-compliant designs are not sold, and are disposed of rather than relisted.
1.8 Storage media and unsanitizable devices. Loose storage media, and any device whose storage cannot be verifiably sanitized, are excluded from sale and are certifiably destroyed under our data-destruction procedure.
2. Restricted, sold with conditions
2.1 Regulated goods with handling or transport rules, including lithium batteries and battery-powered mobility products, are accepted and sold only with the required disclosures, and shipped only where compliant transport is available; otherwise pickup only.
2.2 Electrical goods are sold as graded; items lacking required Canadian certification markings for their class are flagged, restricted, or refused per our screening.
2.3 Food, drugs, and natural health products are listed only where compliant with their governing statutes, and discarded where compliance cannot be confirmed.
2.4 Devices containing storage are sold only after verified data sanitization, performed and recorded at inspection under our data-destruction procedure, with the sanitization record attached to the item's audit trail.
3. What happens at intake
3.1 Every load is screened at inspection. Items on this list are quarantined immediately and never enter a catalogue. For consigned goods: prohibited items may be refused at intake or returned to the consignor at the consignor's cost, and where return is unlawful or unsafe, they are destroyed, with the consignor's warranties and indemnity in the consignment agreement applying. Recalls and suspected counterfeits are escalated the same day.
4. If you spot something
4.1 If you believe a listed or purchased item is recalled, counterfeit or unsafe, notify us through online support. We investigate, and safety findings are acted on regardless of sale status.
